A close-in community with urban and suburban elements

Arlington often labels itself as an "urban village" encompassing high-density areas such as Rosslyn, Crystal City and Clarendon, while also containing close-in neighborhoods with a more suburban feel.

Located directly across the Potomac from Washington, DC, Arlington was once within the 10 mile square land area of the nation's capital. In 1847, at the request of local residents, the U.S. Congress retroceded Arlington to Virginia. Originally referred to as "Alexandria County", the county was renamed to "Arlington" in 1920, after the name of Robert E. Lee's home, now part of Arlington Cemetery.

The county is known for excellent schools, a high degree of walkability, great parks and amenities, a good nightlife scene, and a rich history.
Within the realm of Arlington VA Real Estate, buyers will find a variety of choices. The county is rich with stylish condos, townhouse communities, and neighborhoods of single family homes.
