A historic Northern Virginia town

The historic city of Falls Church takes its name from the Falls Church, a parish founded in 1734 under the Church of England (later, the Episcopal Church). Unlike neighboring Fairfax and Arlington, which are counties, Falls Church is an independent city in Virginia. However, Falls Church addresses extend well into Fairfax County. Areas north of Falls Church city are McLean-adjacent and are within the McLean High School pyramid. Western areas are adjacent to Tysons Corner and Vienna. And areas to the south of Falls Church City include Bailey's Crossroads and Lake Barcroft.

The City of Falls Church is highly regarded with great amenities, a responsive local government and a high level of community involvement. The town is served by two Metro stations, and the area has a plethora of stores, restaurants and nightspots.
Falls Church VA homes vary widely by price and type. Inexpensive Falls Church condos in Bailey's Crossroads sell for $200,000 to $300,000. Single family homes adjacent to Tysons Corner sell in the low $1mm range. But Falls Church real estate also encompasses luxury homes in Falls Church City and McLean adjacent areas at prices beyond $2 million. Additionally, waterfront homes in Lake Barcroft start at $2 million and can go much higher.

A historic town

Falls Church City has significant historic charm.  The Falls Church (the city’s namesake) still stands.  The old W&OD Railroad tracks no longer run through the town, but have been replaced by a bike trail enabling Falls Church City residents to commute to DC by bike.

Within Falls Church VA Real Estate, the oldest, most sought-after, and most established areas include Broadmont and Hillwood, located on the north and south sides of Route 7, respectively.

Within these areas, older, smaller homes can sell for $1-1.5 million, while larger fully renovated homes can sell for $2 million and beyond.

A lake community inside the Beltway

Falls Church Virginia is home to Lake Barcroft.  While not located in Falls Church City, the area does have Falls Church addresses within Fairfax County.  The lake oriented community has opportunities for boating, kayaking, and canoeing, and the community maintains five beaches accessible by community members.  Only residents of homes in the Lake Barcroft subdivision have lake access.

The area is highly sought after, and the Lake Barcroft community is highly active, with regular social events.

Within Lake Barcroft, non-lakefront homes typically sell for $1-1.5 million, while lakefront properties mostly sell for $2 million and beyond.  Some waterfront homes in Lake Barcroft have sold at prices of $4 million and beyond.

Affordable close-in condos

Affordable Falls Church VA real estate options are plentiful to the south of Falls Church City.  Falls Church VA condos can be had below the $300,000 price point in areas including Bailey’s Crossroads and Seven Corners.  

The Skyline complex is a set of high-rise condominiums and apartments.  And although their pricing is affordable, they offer excellent space in well-maintained buildings in excellent locations.

A pleasant close-in town

Falls Church City is a vibrant close-in town with restaurants, stores and nightlife, yet is also a short Metro ride from downtown DC.  The center of Falls Church, Virginia is at the intersection of Route 7 and Route 29.  From there, it’s an easy walk to Whole Foods, The State Theatre, Dogwood Tavern, and Northside Social.

Falls Church is located to the west of Arlington County, just beyond its westernmost point.  It is adjacent to McLean, Tysons Corner, Vienna, and Alexandria. 

It is about 20 minutes from downtown DC by car with I-66, Route 29 and Route 50 as its main commuting routes.  It’s adjacent to Tysons Corner — a major commercial district.  Two Orange Line Metro Stops (East Falls Church and West Falls Church) provide subway access into DC.
