Excellent schools and amenities

The Langley and McLean high school pyramids are among the most sought-after in Northern Virginia.  Langley serves the western and northern portions of McLean, while McLean High serves the eastern portion.  Both have very strong elementary and middle schools.  Additionally, McLean has outstanding community centers and parks including Spring Hill Community Center and Clemyjontri — a huge playground geared to all children, including those who have disabilities.

The Potomac School is  a sought-after private school in McLean, offering education from kindergarten through high school.  The Langley School also offers excellent elementary school programs.  And Maryland and DC private schools are also very accessible from McLean. 

Home to global headquarters

McLean is home to the sprawling headquarters of the Central Intelligence Agency.  The town is also home to the headquarters of Capital One, Hilton Hotels, Gannett, Freddie Mac, Mars and Appian.  McLean’s proximity to these major government and corporate centers make McLean real estate popular with senior corporate and government executives.

Additionally, many major defense contractors and firms providing support to the US intelligence community are based here.

Tysons Corner is also a great environment for startups.  Many angel and venture capital networks exist in the area, as do co-working spaces and startup incubator facilities.  McLean Virginia real estate benefits from proximity to Tysons Corner, enabling short commutes.

McLean is located along the Potomac River to the northwest of Arlington. 

It is about 20 minutes from downtown DC by car with I-66, the George Washington Parkway, and Old Dominion Drive as main commuting routes.  It’s adjacent to Tysons Corner — a major commercial district.  McLean also has its own Metro stop on the Silver Line, which travels west to Dulles Airport and east to Arlington and DC.  The Beltway provides access north into Maryland and south toward Alexandria.
